With methicillin-resistant staph aureus (MRSA) in the spotlight from the recent CDC study, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) last week posted MRSA and the Workplace.
The new safety and health topic page provides answers to questions such as:
- Can I get MRSA from someone at work?
- If I have MRSA, can I go to work?
- What should I do if I think I have a staph or MRSA infection?
- If I have staph or a MRSA skin infection, what can I do to prevent the spread of MRSA at work and at home?
NIOSH reminds readers that the information provided is for general workplaces, not healthcare facilities. Healthcare workers should refer to the CDC's Overview of Healthcare-Associated MRSA.
