Healthcare is on the hot list of occupations associated with the medical condition known as dry eye, reports the October 5 issue of MD Week.

The publication was reviewing recent activities of the National Women's Health Resource Center, which produced Dry Eye Hot Jobs, a listing of the nation's top job categories most likely to contribute to dry eye.

Prolonged computer use and exposure to dust and allergens are factors associated with dry eye, "an often unrecognized on-the-job health issue," according to the Center.

Healthcare workers, especially nurses, medical assistants, and lab technicians, ranked third behind office and construction/manufacturing workers in occupation-related dry eye problems.
