On Tuesday, the United States Postal Service issued a revision to its requirements for mailing medical waste.

The postal service will now allow medical professionals to mail medical waste to disposal sites in a container that weighs no more than 35 lbs. The container can hold smaller contaminated sharps receptacles and tie-closed bags of regulated medical waste.

This may be a good topic to bring up to whoever handles regulated medical waste for your hospital.
