Retail Clinics Treat the Usual Runny Noses, Rheumy Eyes

Ever wonder how the type and volume of business at retail clinics may compare with your ED's traffic? New figures fom Take Care Health Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Walgreen's, show that staff are most likely to treat acute sinusitis (23%), acute pharyngitis (10%), acute upper respiratory infection (7%), acute bronchitis (7%), otitis media (6%), conjunctivitis (4%), dermatitis (2%), and cystitis (2%). On average, in the low season, traffic is about 15 patients a day, 50 during cold and flu season.
