The Life Safety Code (LSC) presents certain provisions for interior finishes (e.g., exposed surfaces of walls, ceilings, and floors). While decoration and furnishings aren't considered interior finishes, materials such as paint and wall paper are. Check out section 10.2 of the LSC for full details.

When it comes to common interior finish hazards, be vigilant about whether the following meet LSC requirements:

  • Wood paneling
  • Cork
  • Textiles
  • Foam plastics

If you'd like to learn more about the ins and outs of the LSC, consider joining us for our new Life Safety Code Boot Camp-Hospital Version, which has upcoming dates in the Boston and Chicago areas.
