On Monday, The Joint Commission formally unveiled its new tool to import Excel-based plans for improvement (PFIs) into the electronic Statement of Conditions (SOC).
Accredited facilities can log onto their Joint Commission extranet connection to use the tool and read detailed instructions. "Follow the instructions exactly and you should have no trouble moving forward," said George Mills, senior engineer at the commission. Mills debuted the tool at the American Society for Healthcare Engineering's annual conference in New Orleans.
Facilities have until September 1 to put all open PFIs into the e-SOC. PFIs that will be completed before that date don't need to go into the electronic format.
