New homeland security rule will likely affect hospitals

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) hopes a new regulation will shore up security for storing, tracking, and transporting chemicals that could be turned into terrorist weapons.
You can find some of the chemicals identified by DHS--ethylene oxide, nitric oxide, and several more--in most hospital environments, making medical centers subject to the latest requirements.
Hospitals should soon expect to have at least some preliminary work stemming from this regulation.
