OSHA: Take care your teen workers

Summer is a time when many teenagers with limited occupational safety experience enter the workplace. While the availability of teen workers can be helpful to businesses, OSHA reminds employers that OSHA standards apply to teenage employees and to that safety training programs may need modification for this workforce.
Each year, 77,000 teen workers suffer injuries serious enough to require emergency room treatment, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
The OSHA Web page for businesses that employ teen workers provides tips on how employers can limit or prevent workplace injuries and links to other Department of Labor regulations applying to employing teenage workers
