State of New York announces emergency initiatives

Emergency Management Alert, June 11, 2007

Alerting the public and enhancing emergency response are the goals of two new initiatives recently announced by New York Governor Eliot Spitzer.

 

NY-ALERT will provide Web-based emergency alerts to the public, including severe weather warnings and information from local, state, and federal authorities. NY-DELIVERS will seek to forge "public-private partnerships to support the state's emergency response missions," according to the press release, and will incorporate best practices gleaned from Hurricane Katrina.
