DHS announces frameworks to protect infrastructure
Emergency Management Alert, May 29, 2007
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the completion of 17 sector-specific plans (SSP) designed to provide a risk management framework for the country's critical infrastructures, including emergency services and public health and healthcare.
The SSPs are designed to take into account specific risk factors for each different sector, and also accomplish the following:
- Define roles and responsibilities
- Catalog existing security authorities
- Institutionalize existing security partnerships
- Establish strategic objectives to achieve risk reduction
Some of the SSPs are for official use only, but can be requested through the DHS Web site. For more information, click here.
