Identifying patients with special needs

When a hurricane or a tornado is bearing down on a community, hospitals know they need to prepare for a surge in patients. But, as one
Recently, the North Port Fire Rescue District and Sarasota County Emergency Management have joined forces to identify special needs patients before disaster strikes, and developed an elaborate set of plans for dealing with those patients' needs in the event of an emergency, reports The Charlotte Herald.
Strategies include developing transportation plans, designating specific shelters, and, perhaps most importantly, educating residents with special needs on how to get help.
