Tip of the Week: Make the Joint Commission happy-Find a Jeep
Emergency Management Alert, March 6, 2007
Staff can't get to work during an emergency? Enlist the help of a local off-road riding club. This past month, when Lorain County, Ohio, was under a foot of snow, emergency managers called upon members of a 4 X 4 club to take doctors and nurses to the hospital in their Wranglers and Cherokees.
Reminds us of something we read in the March 2006 EC News on examining changes to the emergency management chapter and conducting exercises:
"A successful exercise can help immerse everyone in the changing dynamics of an emergency and focus on a variety of problems, such as how to get patients out of a facility or how to get employees, supplies, food, and water into a facility if the roads are jammed."
