How to tell if your lab tech is an imposter
As if you don't have enough trouble with people pretending to be Joint Commission inspectors, you now must worry about whether your lab technologists are the real deal.
Recently, one tech in Georgia claimed ASCP certification at five different places of employment, and someone in Ohio tried to pass himself off as an ASCP-certified phlebotomist. Each person submitted forged documents.
One way to spot lab imposters is to verify their certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Registry online service, accessible via this link.
