Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an independent testing group in Northbrook, IL, says that a portable fire extinguisher manufacturer has allegedly forged the common UL logo on its extinguishers.

International Technology Services, Inc., of Edison, NJ, manufactures the equipment. The company didn't return a phone message from HCPro as of 3 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday.

The extinguishers in question "have not been evaluated for safety by UL and bear a counterfeit UL mark in the United States," according to UL.
