January 1 is a big day for those of you following new Joint Commission requirements.
As of the date, these provisions will go into effect:
- Under the Statement of Conditions (SOC), facilities will need to have completed an electronic version of the SOC's basic building information and also submit all new plans for improvement via the Joint Commission's extranet connection
- A new, four-hour generator test goes into effect under EC.7.40 (facilities must conduct the test by July 1, 2007)
- Under the infection control (IC) standards, IC.4.15 requires hospitals to offer influenza vaccinations to workers and track reasons for staff refusal to take the flu shots
