Working drug-free is key to workplace safety and is the focus for OSHA's support of Drug-Free Work Week, October 16-22.
In Steps to a Drug-Free Workplace, OSHA and the Working Partners Alliance, a collaboration of the Department of Labor and other federal agencies to ensure workplaces are free of the hazards of alcohol and drug abuse, encourages employers to develop drug-free workplace programs. Components of a drug-free workplace program include
- a written drug-free workplace policy
- supervisor training
- employee education
- an employee assistance program
- drug testing
Working Partners Alliance has education materials, posters, and presentations in a variety of formats for supervisors and employees.
