During an LPGA tour event this week, California volunteer dermatologists screened those in the golf community for skin cancers, as part of the "Play Safe in the Sun" campaign, sponsored by the Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS).
Twenty-six percent (55 of 208) of those screened, including LPGA Tour and media members, were referred for further diagnosis.
WDS volunteers distributed sunscreen samples and skin cancer education materials throughout the tournament. This was the eighth successful event for the society.
