The JCAHO published an official delay in parts of its electronic Statement of Conditions (SOC) program.
The original deadline for facilities to start using electronic versions of the SOC's Parts 2 and 4 was originally January 1, 2007. The JCAHO extended a key provision to July 1, 2007--in particular, the requirement to transfer any currently identified plans for improvement (PFI) to the electronic system if those projects' completions dates are after December 31, 2006.
During the interim, the JCAHO hopes to develop a program to allow facilities to upload existing PFIs (such as those in a hospital spreadsheet) into the e-SOC system.
Watch for further details and analysis in a future issue of Healthcare Life Safety Compliance.
