A hospital in Concord, NC, has gone smoke-free, and if employees light up on facility grounds, they may lose their jobs.
Workers who smoke will receive a warning after the first violation of NorthEast Medical Center's new policy and face possible firing for subsequent infractions, reported the Charlotte Observer.
A popular outdoor gazebo that smokers gathered at was hauled away, too, according to the newspaper. About 700 of the total 4,200 hospital employees smoke cigarettes.
