Last week's record-breaking floods in the eastern part of the country created problems for all kinds of folks, including hospital staff.
Among the medical centers affected include the following:
- Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY, evacuated about 90 patients to two other hospitals after shutting its doors. About 2 ft. of water from the Susquehanna River invaded the ground-level floor of the facility, which remained closed as of Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
- Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre (PA) Hospital evacuated 93 patients, according to information from the facility. The action was necessary after authorities ordered a mandatory evacuation because of the threat of flooding from the Susquehanna.
