Parkridge Medical Center and Parkridge East Hospital in Tennessee have implemented the Patient Education Institute's X-Plain software program that lets patients watch online tutorials to help them understand and prepare for procedures, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
The organizations were part of a pilot for the program last year and have now adopted the software permanently. The 10-15 minute online tutorials are typically viewed 14 days before a procedure and include multiple choice questions with educational material if the patient answers a question incorrectly.
