Starting in 2007, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) will require four-hour generator tests every 36 months.
The JCAHO unveiled the new requirement in the June issue of its Perspectives newsletter. The new element of performance under EC.7.40 calls for the four-hour test to be conducted under a dynamic or static load that is at least 30% of the nameplate rating of the generator. It goes into effect on July 1, 2007.
