The high percentage (80.3%) of healthcare workers receiving the hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine has helped in reducing the incidence of acute HBV by 75% since 1990, according to Hepatitis B Vaccination Coverage Among Adultsâ?"United States, 2004 by the CDC.
The CDC posted the report as May 2006 marks the 11th anniversary of Hepatitis Awareness Month. In the United States, one of three persons has been infected with hepatitis A virus, HBV, or hepatitis C virus.
