OSHA posted Preventing Mold-Related Problems in the Indoor Workplace on its Web site this month. The purpose of the 36-page document is to help building owners, facility managers, and employers understand and prevent building-related illnesses (BRI) associated with mold problems. BRI "is used to describe illnesses that are characterized by objective clinical findings related to specific exposures in the indoor environment," according to the document.
In addition to BRI, other topics addressed include
Preventive maintenance
Building evaluation
Mold control and remediation
Actions for employees to take
Descriptions of allergies, infections, and toxin-mediated conditions
