The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have released a planning tool designed to help medical offices and ambulatory clinics assess and improve their preparedness for responding to pandemic influenza.
The Medical Offices and Clinics Pandemic Influenza Planning Checklist appeared on the HHS Pandemic Flu Web site last month. The checklist addresses
- structure for planning and decision-making
- development of a written pandemic influenza plan
- elements of an influenza pandemic plan
Ensuring the protection and safety of healthcare workers is one of the elements of a comprehensive influenza pandemic plan.
