Boston Medical Center had a scare Monday night when a maintenance worker taking trash outside to a Dumpster was exposed to a dangerous sterilizer.
As a result, the employee ended up in the emergency room, Boston's hazardous materials unit showed up, and authorities evacuated about 150 from two buildings, including an adjacent homeless shelter, The Boston Globe reported.
The employee inhaled fumes from the residue of peracetic acid as he disposed of a container that contained the chemical, The Globe said.
