The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) encourages healthcare organizations across the country to promote patient safety March 5-11 during Patient Safety Awareness Week. Launched in 2002, the week serves as a national awareness-building campaign for improving patient safety at a local level.

Check the NPSF Web site for suggestions on how healthcare organizations and their staffs can promote patient safety awareness, including

tips for communicating with patients and families

tools to help patients ensure their own safety

reminders in the form of patient safety awareness bracelets
