President Bush has requested a $483.7 million budget for OSHA in fiscal year 2007, an increase of $11.2 million from last year, but money allocated for enforcement and inspections will remain the same, according to a February 6 OSHA news release.

The proposed budget earmarks $179.9 million for federal OSHA enforcement, an increase of $7.4 million over fiscal year 2006. Federal OSHA plans to conduct 37,000 inspections, which is the same number as last year. OSHA conducted 836 inspections of healthcare businesses during that period.
