Boomers tied to worker injury rate

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) remain the leading cause of lost work time for U.S. employees, and older workers are often the most seriously affected, according to the January CTDNews Workplace Solutions for Repetitive Stress Injuries. For workers 65 and older, the median number of work days lost from MSD increased by 25% from 2003 to 2004. As the workforce ages, especially from baby boomers working beyond the usual retirement age, employers will have to find ergonomic solutions to injuries afflicting this population, concludes the article.
