Pediatricians may soon have to notify the Allegheny County Health Department when they diagnose youngsters with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Such reports could help health experts get a better handle on how prevalent MRSA is in the community, said Bruce Dixon, MD, director of the Health Department.
