Yet another nursing home fire can be traced to a dryer problem.
The latest blazed occurred on December 22 at Town & Country (MO) Health Care Center. Sprinklers helped extinguish the dryer fire, but smoke spread through laundry chutes, prompting staff to relocate 175 residents to safe areas within the building, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Thanks to well-trained employees and a good evacuation plan, no residents suffered injuries beyond a small exposure to smoke, a fire official told the Post-Dispatch.
A dryer fire also occurred at a nursing home in Rockford, IL, on November 26.
