Cleanliness and low infection rates are two of the top three reasons for which consumers select a hospital, according to a survey by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania on December 13.
In a telephone survey of 1,007 adults, cleanliness appeared 97% of the time as a very important consideration while low infection rates appeared 85% of the time. The two categories surpassed hospital proximity and reputation as key considerations. Insurance acceptance came in second, with 88% of respondents citing it as a very important factor.
Steris Corporation sponsored the research. Click here for more survey results.
