Refine your preoperative assessments on patients: Provide documentation for your surveyors

Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) surveyors visited North Country Orthopedic Watertown, NY, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) surveyed Surgery Center at Saint Francis in Mephis, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services inspected Northeast Surgical Care Newington, NH. Each of the surveyors gave positive feedback about the facilities' preanesthesia assessments. One suggestion for improvement, however, was that if your forms serve as a quick checklist, leave room for some text in case the patient has special needs that providers must write in.
