Tenet Healthcare Corporation has committed to helping rebuild New Orleans' medical community following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Tenet's new health system will be called the NOLA Regional Health Network.

The hurricane severely damaged Tenet's Memorial Medical Center and Lindy Boggs Medical Center, both of which remain closed indefinitely. Its three nearby suburban hospitals suffered damage during Katrina but are gradually returning to service.

"We are still assessing whether to repair the existing Memorial and Lindy Boggs hospital buildings or construct new facilities, but we have made the commitment to maintain health care services at both sites," Trevor Fetter, Tenet's president and chief executive officer, said in a press release.
