As you tour your facility looking for safety concerns, consider the need for labeling shutoff valves.

By labeling gas and steam shutoff valves in the boiler room and kitchen shutoff switches, you increase your chances to better control fires, says Ray Moughalian, principal at Saf-T-Man in Methuen, MA.

Labels will also look good to surveyors and inspectors, adds Moughalian, who spoke during an HCPro audioconference on Tuesday about the environment of care standards.
