Report: How to reopen former hospitals to treat Hurricane Katrina survivors

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released information on how public health officials and emergency response teams can reopen former hospitals to care for survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
The information includes lists of supplies and medications that stable medical/surgical patients need, as well as checklists to assess for facility readiness, staffing needs and levels, and patient transport readiness. The information comes from a new report from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) titled, Use of Former (Shuttered) Hospitals to Expand Surge Capacity.
