Our friends at the Hospital Fire Marshals' Association alerted their members this week that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) may be looking into regulatory compliance at hospitals in the Philadelphia area.
In one visit, inspectors looked at standard precautions, disposal of infectious waste, and infection control policies, wrote association president Bob Shewbrooks.
Often, when OSHA targets hospitals, it is through one of the agency's regional enforcement programs. Pennsylvania falls under OSHA's Region 3 office, as do the states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, as well as Washington, DC.
