SC woman says she was assaulted in hospital bathroom

Emergency Management Alert, July 26, 2005

A South Carolina woman says a man bound, gagged, and sexually assaulted her in a bathroom of the Charleston Area Medical Center, according to the Charleston Daily Mail.

Investigators say the woman told police she went into a restroom, switched on a light, and found a man hiding there. The man used duct tape to apprehend her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.

Hospital officials are investigating security at their facility but didn't comment on whether they added security personnel since the alleged incident.
