Nine people exposed to tuberculosis in Massachusetts
Emergency Management Alert, July 12, 2005
Nine people who came into contact with a Massachusetts healthcare worker infected with tuberculosis have shown signs of exposure, but none are contagious or have symptoms, reports TheBostonChannel.com.
More than 2,600 of the nearly 4,300 patients and workers at five Boston-area facilities have been tested for tuberculosis after coming into contact with a surgical resident who carried an active form of the disease. The resident was contagious for six months while she rotated at the Boston Medical Center, the Veterans Administration hospitals, Cape Cod Hospital, and Brockton Hospital.
Testing at these facilities will continue, according to health officials.
