Emergency Management Alert, June 7, 2005
Authorities in Washington jailed a hospital patient for third-degree assault last weekend after the 59-year-old man allegedly attacked five nurses, reports kirotv.com.
According to officials at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Gordon Liggett, who the hospital treated for seizures, punched one female nurse in the face, choked and kicked another, and pulled another nurse's hair. Liggett cut two other employees on the neck and face with a pen he wielded.
Liggett was a problem patient before the incident, pacing hallways and disturbing other patients. He told officers that he suffers from memory loss and didn't remember the attack, police say.
