If your facility doesn't keep up well with inspection and testing requirements under environment of care (EC) standard EC.5.40, then it's time to revamp your efforts.
Inspection of fire safety equipment under EC.5.40 is a focused area of scrutiny from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations' new life safety surveyors, according to information collected by Safety Connection. Fire pump tests and kitchen hood maintenance are among the requirements that surveyors take a hard look at.
