Last week, the American Hospital Association posted a bulletin from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding a recent series of incidents where suspicious people sought access to hospitals. All of the imposters, who pretended they were surveyors from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, left upon questioning by staff.

Aside from describing four specific incidents that took place from February 26 to March 27 in hospitals in Boston, Detroit, New Jersey, and Los Angeles, the bulletin also details three other questionable incidents at hospitals that took place between October 2004 and February 2005.

While there is no evidence any of these events point to terrorism, DHS nonetheless offers a list of security recommendations that hospitals can use to tighten access into their buildings. It is worth your time to read this informative bulletin by clicking here.
