Periodic performance reviews don’t need to be scary

Capturing how hospitals actually handle patient care-and not just how they think or say they handle it-is the idea behind the periodic performance review (PPR). How difficult is it to complete the PPR? The answer becomes important as the 2006 changeover looms for hospitals to annually complete a PPR as required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Currently, facilities must submit PPRs every three years.
