Knoxville chemical spill sends nine to hospital

Emergency Management Alert, March 15, 2005

Nine people suffered respiratory problems last week after workers in a Knoxville, TN, assisted living home incorrectly mixed cleaning fluids together, television station WVLT reported.

The mix of cleaning fluids created a hazardous gas cloud sending two residents and seven employees at Hillcrest Healthcare South to hospitals. The fumes forced at least 18 other residents to relocate to different parts of the facility.
