The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seized this week enclosed hospital beds made by Vail Products Inc., Reuters reported.

In confiscating the beds, the FDA noted that 30 people became trapped in them; seven people died.

U.S. marshals took all finished Vail 500, 1000, and 2000 enclosed beds. The agency reported that the beds are dangerous, lack adequate warnings, and directions for use.

Vail's company Web site says the beds allow "the patient to move about freely within a safe, padded environment." However, the site doesn't mention anything about the FDA bed seizures.
