Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL, got creative with safety drills this week as part of National Patient Safety Week, the Daily Herald reported.
The hospital offered not only safety bingo, an online quiz for staff, but also a what's wrong with this room quiz, where hospital administrators set up a patient's rooms with 35 mistakes inside, Sherry Markwell, a risk manager, told the Herald.
While some of the mistakes were more obvious than others, like the cigarette propped in a dummy patient's mouth, some mistakes were more difficult to find, like a missing sprinkler cap.
Clinical and non-clinical staff took the quiz.
After the quiz, employees hand-washing skills were put to the test.
The quiz was designed in large part to be fun and eye-opening, it already has brought out people's competitive sides, said Ann Skoglund, vice president of physician practice management.
"I've been pleasantly surprised at how involved they're getting," she said.
