National emergency response plan revealed

Emergency Management Alert, January 13, 2005

Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge unveiled a national emergency response plan last week, the Kansas Morning Star reported.

The national emergency plan outlines ways to improve federal-local coordination in cases of terrorism. The plan covers responses for natural disasters as well as chemical, biological, and nuclear attacks by coordinating responses among federal, state, local, and tribal governments.

"It's really been drafted by the entire country," Ridge said at a press conference.
