Florida receives $3 billion in federal and state aid

Still reeling from the series of hurricanes in 2004, Florida has received $3 billion in disaster aid federal and state assistance funds, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reports.
Nearly 1.18 million storm victims have applied for disaster assistance since Hurricane Charley hit four months ago.
The deadline to apply for federal and state disaster assistance is approaching. To register, call FEMA's toll-free number, 1/800-621-FEMA, Ext. 3362. The phone lines are open every day from 6 a.m. to midnight Eastern time.
