SARS vaccine being put to the test

The National Institutes of Health began testing a severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) vaccine last week, AHA News reported.

Ten people volunteered to test the experimental vaccine. The NIH Clinical Center will follow up with the volunteers for 32 weeks to determine whether the vaccine is safe and effective.

During 2002 and 2003, SARS killed 774 people worldwide.
