CDC reports low flu activity

Emergency Management Alert, December 9, 2004

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported in November that flu activity is low so far, AHA News reported.

Throughout the country only 3.2% of people tested positive for influenza. However, health officials warn that flu activity could pick up in the next few weeks, especially in the Mid-Atlantic area. New York has reported regional flu activity and Delaware has reported the second highest level of widespread activity so far.

The flu typically doesn't peak until January, experts say. To monitor flu activity, check www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/.
